Open Web Data Exposure

OPEN WEB DATA EXPOSURE  BLACKLIST ALERTING

Detect organizational assets listed on blacklists.

Protect Your Data

Organizations hold a lot of sensitive data – sometimes more than they even know about. Sensitive data can be in the form of code or documents that might cause harm to organizations. Open web data exposure occurs when an organization either unknowingly, or due to malicious insider threat actors, has data revealed on the open web. Malicious or accidental data exposure can cause your organization to suffer financial loss and decreased brand trust.

What you should be monitoring for:
  • Web Data Loss
  • Code Repos
  • Cloud Storage
  • Paste Sites
  • Malware Sandboxes

Along with being vigilant about your open web data exposure, you should also monitor your assets on dark web blacklists. GroupSense identifies an asset blacklist as a collection of data that’s deemed untrustworthy based on the asset reconciliation exclusion rules.

HOW IT WORKS

GroupSense monitors open web sources commonly associated with malicious or inadvertent data exposure such as code repositories, cloud storage, paste sites, malware sandboxes, and misconfigured websites.

Examples of open web data vary widely and may include:
  • Source code
  • Blueprints
  • Product schematics
  • API keys left in publicly posted code

At the request of the client, GroupSense can pursue the process of taking down the darknet data. However, GroupSense can provide no guarantee that the data will be taken down even if a purchase of this data is made on behalf of the client.

GroupSense will detect when your organization's assets are listed on blacklists which will impact the availability of your systems to clients, customers, employees, etc.

At the request of the client, blacklisted assets are pursued for removal from the associated blacklist, however, GroupSense cannot guarantee the removal of the asset(s) from a blacklist.

USE CASE

GroupSense detected an unsecured cloud application and database server for a client, enabling them to quickly re-secure the asset before hackers discovered it.
